culture and the Christian community. Here’s a breakdown of the feedback across
the three core topics.
Topic 1: Discipleship & Church
Summary of Session: Rev. Bishop Samuel Victor Azariah’s
session addressed the church’s role within Pakistan’s multi-religious society.
He discussed the church's responsibility to encourage discipleship rooted in
understanding, respect, and biblical teachings while emphasizing unity and
spiritual resilience in a minority setting.
Participants’ Feedback by Table:
First Day:
- Table 1:
Participants emphasized the need for the church to create a stronger sense
of community and offer support systems for youth and families facing
societal pressures in Pakistan. Participants found Rev. Bishop Samuel
Victor Azariah’s session insightful, appreciating the discussion on the
church's role in a multi-religious society.
- Table 2:
Members discussed the concept of the church as a refuge for spiritual
growth, recognizing the church’s dual role as a sanctuary and a training
ground for discipleship in a predominantly non-Christian society. There
was strong engagement with the theological perspectives shared, as
attendees found them helpful in understanding discipleship.
- Table 3:

churches, noting that better-educated church leaders could guide
communities effectively in discipleship and interfaith relations.
Participants valued the personal stories shared, which illustrated the
practical challenges and rewards of whole-life discipleship.
- Table 4:

Pakistan’s religious landscape, promoting discipleship through service and
compassion rather than isolation. Members appreciated the hall arrangements
and felt the setup facilitated a comfortable learning environment.

community, especially with challenges such as economic difficulties and
cultural marginalization that many Christians face in Pakistan.
Participants expressed gratitude for the hospitality and smooth
registration process, noting the ministry team’s professionalism.

Participants felt that the church should offer more practical training on
faith application in everyday life, helping believers maintain their faith
in challenging social and work environments. Attendees appreciated the
initial overview of discipleship and found the opening sessions inspiring.
- Table 7:
Discussion centered on the church’s role in fostering a strong identity
among Christians in Pakistan, encouraging congregations to live as “salt
and light” in the broader community. The devotional session on Acts
17:16-34 by Rev. Dr. Samuel Titus was particularly well-received for its
relevance and spiritual depth.
- Table 8:
Participants valued the idea of the church providing emotional and
spiritual support, noting that family-focused discipleship programs could
help strengthen Christian values across generations. Participants
highlighted the importance of addressing discipleship in family and
community settings, seeing these as areas for impactful growth.
How Participants Relate This Topic to Pakistani Culture and the Christian Community: Participants expressed that the church must be both culturally sensitive and deeply rooted in biblical truth to foster discipleship in Pakistan. Given the social challenges faced by minorities, many felt the church should also function as a community center, where Christians can gather, grow, and support one another through mentorship and faith-building initiatives.
Topic 2: Discipleship & Media
Summary of Session: Madam Gulnaz Noushad’s session
explored media’s role in promoting Christian values and spreading the Gospel.

biblical principles, stressing the importance of using media to share positive,
truthful, and encouraging messages in the Pakistani context.
Participants’ Feedback by Table:

that foster Christian values, seeing this as an extension of discipleship
that reaches beyond church walls. Participants noted the helpfulness of
the resource materials provided, which they felt enhanced their learning.
- Table 7:
Members talked about using media to showcase personal testimonies, which
could be powerful tools for encouraging others, especially among those
facing religious persecution. The devotional on Philippians 4:4-9 by Dr.
Farhana Anthony Nazeer received positive feedback for its encouragement
and relevance.

Participants supported the idea of collaborative media initiatives between
churches and Christian organizations to strengthen the impact and
consistency of Christian messaging in the media. Attendees discussed the
challenges of living out their faith in the workplace and found the
practical suggestions offered beneficial.
How Participants Relate This Topic to Pakistani Culture and the Christian Community: Participants felt that media is a critical platform for outreach in Pakistan, where traditional religious beliefs dominate public discourse. Many noted the potential for media to counteract stereotypes and encourage positive perceptions of Christianity. Attendees emphasized the need to produce content that aligns with cultural norms while subtly introducing Christian values, thus promoting discipleship in a respectful and relatable manner.
Topic 3: Discipleship & Workplace
Summary of Session: Rev. Raja Shaleem Samuel’s session
focused on viewing the Biblical concept of workplace and as a mission field,

to see their work as an extension of their faith and as an opportunity to
embody Christian principles daily.

God’s mission, with many expressing a commitment to see their roles as
opportunities to serve. Members found the session on mission in the
workplace inspiring, with many sharing ideas on applying it in their own
careers.
- Table 7:
Participants reflected on how to deal with ethical challenges in the
workplace, such as dishonesty or corruption, emphasizing a need for
courage and discernment grounded in faith. Participants expressed
appreciation for the encouragement and support received throughout the
event, noting the strong sense of community.
- Table 8:
Attendees talked about fostering supportive networks within Christian
communities to encourage each other in discipleship, especially in
environments where Christian values may not be upheld. Participants were
grateful for the opportunity to network with other Christian leaders and
share mutual encouragement.
How Participants Relate This Topic to Pakistani Culture and the Christian Community: The idea of the workplace as a mission field resonated strongly with participants, many of whom face unique challenges in balancing faith with societal expectations in Pakistan. Christians often work in environments that do not necessarily align with their values, and participants noted the importance of living out discipleship through honesty, compassion, and diligence. Many also recognized the importance of support from the Christian community to remain steadfast in faith despite potential workplace pressures.
- Overall
Reflection:
Across all tables, participants valued the relevance of these
three topics within the Pakistani context, especially as they pertain to the
Christian community’s unique challenges. The sessions provided practical,
culturally relevant insights that attendees felt equipped to apply in their
church, media, and workplace settings. There was a strong sense of motivation
among participants to carry forward the lessons learned and to foster
discipleship that is resilient, compassionate, and reflective of the challenges
faced by Christians in Pakistan.
1-
Participant Engagement
- Pre-Event
Surveys: Conduct surveys or focus groups ahead of the event to
gather specific topics of interest from potential attendees. This ensures
the agenda aligns closely with participant needs and expectations.
2- Resource Accessibility
- Digital
Resources: Provide participants with digital access to
presentation materials, recordings, and additional resources after the event
to facilitate ongoing learning.
- Resource
Kits: Create takeaway kits that include books, pamphlets, or
digital links to resources discussed during sessions.
3- Follow-Up Mechanisms
- Post-Event
Follow-Up: Implement a follow-up strategy to maintain connections
among participants, such as monthly check-ins or an online forum for
continued discussion and resource sharing.
- Mentorship
Opportunities: Establish a mentorship program connecting
experienced discipleship leaders with newer attendees to foster
relationships and growth.
4- Feedback Implementation
- Real-Time
Feedback: Use real-time polling during sessions to gauge
participant understanding and engagement. This can help presenters adjust
their content on the fly.
5- Enhanced Logistics
- Accommodation
Review: Consider accommodations more thoroughly to ensure
all participant needs are met or on the other hand do not give
accommodation at all if all the participants are from the same city.
During this event we noticed that mostly participants who were from
Islamabad or Rawalpindi preferred day scholars and not to take
accommodation/rooms. The second suggestion in respect of accommodation is
that the venue could be a tourist place at northern parts of the country
where all participants are given rooms/stay and nobody is dropout or
absent and local political strikes and road closures are no longer a
challenge for participants and event management team. Please see more
details in attached in: a mechanism and planner for ongoing progress
attached with this report separately.
Conclusion
Implementing these suggestions could
strengthen the impact of future consultations, making them even more effective
in fostering whole-life discipleship within the diverse context of Pakistan.
Regularly assessing the outcomes and gathering participant feedback can lead to
continuous improvement, ensuring that the events remain relevant and
transformative.
Outcomes of the
Consultation:
- Enhanced
clarity on the concept and importance of whole-life discipleship among
participants.
- Participants
gained insights into applying biblical principles across all areas of
life, including work, family, and community.
- Tools and
actionable steps were shared for effectively integrating faith into daily
life.
- Fostering
of a supportive Christian community, encouraging connections and
collaborations among attendees.
- Access to
relevant materials and resources for continued learning and
implementation post-consultation.
- Each
organization collectively and participants individually came up with
action plans which they will take with them in their
ministry/organization and individual faith journey to practice.
- We have
come up with mechanisms for ongoing evaluation and feedback to assess
progress and make necessary adjustments in future initiatives. Please
see a mechanism and planner for ongoing progress attached to this
report.
- Participants
left with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to apply what they
learned in their ministries and communities.
- Development
of collaborative plans among different organizations for ongoing
discipleship efforts in the Pakistani context.
- Greater
awareness of the role of media in spreading the Gospel and its
application in discipleship.
- Strategies
for embodying Christian values in the workplace, emphasizing integrity
and service.
VI. Additional Comments for the Report:
1. Highlighting Challenges:
·
Political Strikes
and Road Closures:
During the consultation, a political strike led to road closures, making travel
extremely difficult, if not impossible. Despite these challenges, 63 participants
attended, surpassing our initial invitation of 50 participants. This turnout
highlights the deep commitment of local leaders to the importance of
discipleship and the consultation.
On the third day, our main session speaker, Dr. Maqsood Kamil,
was unable to reach the venue due to the roadblocks. In his absence, Rev. Raja
Shaleem successfully led the session, demonstrating the talent and adaptability
of our diverse team, which can effectively manage any situation.
·
Accommodation
Challenges:
We need to consider accommodation arrangements more thoroughly to meet all
participants' needs. Many attendees from Islamabad and Rawalpindi preferred to
commute daily rather than stay overnight.
As a second option, we suggest selecting a tourist destination
in the northern regions of the country for future events, where all
participants could be accommodated. This would minimize dropout rates and
mitigate issues related to local political strikes and road closures for both
participants and the event management team.
Following the consultation, we reached out to invitees who had
confirmed their stay but opted not to stay at the venue. It became clear that
they were concerned about the political situation and potential emergencies
that could arise for their families. They feared that if they stayed at the
venue and faced an urgent situation at home, it would be impossible to return
quickly. Nevertheless, they were eager to participate, leading them to choose
day scholar status over overnight accommodation.
2.
Future Recommendations:
- Accommodations Opinion:
We need to consider accommodation arrangements more thoroughly
to meet all participants' needs. Many attendees from Islamabad and Rawalpindi
preferred to commute daily rather than stay overnight.
As a second option, we suggest selecting a tourist destination
in the northern regions of the country for future events, where all
participants could be accommodated. This would minimize dropout rates and
mitigate issues related to local political strikes and road closures for both
participants and the event management team.
· Collaborative Partnerships:
Ministries and organizations participating in the Whole-Life
Discipleship Consultation have recognized the shared challenges they face in
Pakistan's multi-religious context. To foster ongoing dialogue and
collaboration, they are initiating monthly meet-ups to continue discussions on
interfaith engagement, mutual support, and best practices for promoting
inclusivity. These gatherings aim to strengthen relationships among diverse
faith communities, encouraging cooperative efforts to address common societal
issues and enhance understanding across religious boundaries.
·
Resource
Compilation:
The report of the
report is available online.
A post evaluation and feedback form is shared
online with participants.
·
Diversity and
Inclusion Focus:
The Whole-Life Discipleship
Consultation effectively addressed diversity and inclusion by fostering open
discussions about the challenges and opportunities for Christians in Pakistan's
multi-religious landscape in the view of seven suffers of life. The WLD
consultation is a platform of multi-denominational & multi-fields &
people for all age groups participated in the consultation, the youngest
participant was 14 years old and the oldest was 71 years old.

Participant’s Story: Asad’s Perviaz Experience
at the Whole-Life Discipleship Consultation
Asad Pervaiz, a dedicated youth leader from AOJC
(TBS-ministry, Rawalpindi) has been actively involved in his church's outreach
programs for several years. When he heard about the Whole-Life Discipleship
Consultation taking place in Rawalpindi, he was eager to attend, hoping to gain
insights that could help empower the young people in his community.
Arrival and Initial Impressions
Asad arrived at the Christian Study Center on the first day of
the consultation, feeling both excited and a little anxious. The venue was
buzzing with energy as participants from various organizations and churches
gathered, all eager to share their experiences and learn from one another. Asad
immediately felt a sense of camaraderie with fellow attendees who were
passionate about deepening their faith and expanding their impact.
Engaging with the Content
Throughout the three
days, Asad immersed himself in the sessions, absorbing insights from renowned
speakers like Rev. Bishop Samuel Victor Azariah and Madam Gulnaz Noushad. He
particularly resonated with the discussions on integrating faith into daily
life, especially the session on discipleship in the workplace. Asad recognized
that many young Christians in Pakistan struggle to maintain their faith in
secular environments, and these teachings provided him with practical
strategies to encourage them.
During the table discussions, Asad actively participated,
sharing challenges he faced in his ministry. He appreciated the collaborative
format, where everyone could voice their opinions and share best practices. The
atmosphere felt open and supportive, which allowed him to connect with others
who faced similar obstacles.
Feedback and Reflections
At the end of the consultation, Asad reflected on his
experience. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to engage with a
diverse group of Christian leaders, stating, "The sessions were incredibly
impactful, and I walked away with not just knowledge but a renewed sense of
purpose. The speakers challenged us to think critically about our role as
believers in Pakistan."
Asad highlighted several key takeaways from the consultation:
- Holistic
Approach: He felt that the emphasis on whole-life discipleship would
empower believers to integrate their faith into every aspect of their
lives, making their witness more effective in their families, workplaces,
and communities.
- Community
Building: Asad saw the potential for stronger networks among churches
and ministries in Pakistan. "When we come together as a community, we
can support one another and tackle challenges collectively," he
remarked.
- Mentorship
Opportunities: He was excited about the prospect of mentorship
programs mentioned during the consultation, believing that pairing younger
believers with seasoned mentors would provide valuable guidance and
encouragement.
Vision for the Future
Asad believes that the Whole-Life Discipleship Consultation
could be a turning point for many Christian believers and ministries in
Pakistan. "This is not just an event; it's a movement towards fostering a
deeper understanding of discipleship," he said. He envisions a future
where young Christians feel confident in their faith, equipped to share the
Gospel in their everyday lives, and engaged in meaningful service within their
communities.
In his feedback, Asad suggested that future consultations
could benefit from more interactive sessions focused on specific challenges
faced by young believers in Pakistan. He hopes that the insights gained from
the consultation will lead to actionable steps in his church, allowing him to
implement strategies that encourage a vibrant, active faith among his peers.
Conclusion
Asad left the consultation inspired and ready to make a
difference in his community. He feels equipped to challenge the status quo,
fostering a culture of whole-life discipleship among his peers and beyond. With
newfound knowledge, connections, and a passionate spirit, Asad is committed to
being a catalyst for change within the Christian community in Pakistan,
believing that together, they can create a lasting impact for generations to
come.
